Types Of Glaucoma
There are two main types of glaucoma:
- Open-angle glaucoma
- Narrow-angle or angle-closure glaucoma
Open-Angle Glaucoma
The most common type of glaucoma, open-angle glaucoma, occurs when the eye structure is normal but the fluid does not drain properly through the tubercular mesh work. This is the “silent” form of glaucoma because you will not notice the slow increase of eye pressure.
Narrow-Angle (Angle-Closure) Glaucoma
In narrow-angle or angle-closure glaucoma, there will be a sudden build-up of pressure in the eye due to a blockage in a drainage canal. This condition develops quickly and will have noticeable symptoms such as:
- Blurry or Hazy Vision
- Eye pain
- Headaches
- Nausea / vomiting
- Vision loss
